WE ARE HELIUM
A dream like landscape, a fantasyland, a collection of surreal and moving images that transcend, sexuality, gender, race and reality, whilst subtlety commenting on our times. Shining a light on peoples fear of change and indifference. WE ARE HELIUM was a statement piece, an exploration, ultimately questioning how do we and can we all truly co exist together?
Helium in it’s natural state is colourless, odourless, tasteless, non toxic, inert, light and the work used Helium as a metaphor, a statement, a message not just the properties of the gas but the association a helium filled balloon as with joy and childhood.
The piece of work is intended to be beautiful and light, yet with undertones of darkness and brutality. A piece that highlights and questions identity, sexuality and race and by placing it in the heart of the high streets of Stockton Upon Tees. WE ARE HELIUM is a piece that showcases difference and enhances the beauty of difference by giving it full view and visibility.
