PARADOX PICTURES PRESENTS

 This website is not a destination; it is a living, on- going platform dedicated to provide a space for me to archive, share and explore my work with all of it’s questions and curiosities.

Paradox- a seemingly absurd or contradictory statement or proposition which when investigated may prove to be well founded or true.

Pictures- A painting or drawing, an impression of something formed from description.

Established in 2018, Paradox Pictures is a project base, collaborative arts company that blends performance, dance, art, theatre, movement, object work and live music. Led by Artistic Director Gavin Coward, the company creates work for a variety of settings and spaces including festivals, theatres, galleries and public spaces as well as experimental works for film.

Paradox Pictures work is always extremely expressive and highly physical and portrays character and humanity. Exploring philosophical meaning and working with marginalised emotions, the work is interested in questioning expectations with cross art forms and bending genres. Paradox Pictures likes to produce work that reflects on the contemporary society we live in, with all of it’s ‘grit and glory’ and life’s little paradoxes.

Since it’s creation, Paradox Pictures have been commissioned by and showcased work at: Curious LGBTQ+ Arts Festival, ‘Mothers Ruin’ at Arc Stockton on Tees, ‘Bish Bash Bosh’ and ‘Bend It’ at Yorkshire Dance, Swallows Feet Festival (OOPS Festival) in Brighton, Homotopia Festival, Baltic Contemporary Art Gallery, Wooler Street Festival, Stockton International Riverside Festival, P- Noise Festival in Copenhagen and Northern Pride on-line.
